Overview In the past decade the revolution in technology and freely available time series data has allowed for a more comprehensive understanding of ecological processes in terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems. This course aims to provide the most useful R packages and functions to explore and analyze different time series that are common in ecology, such as population census, high temporal resolution sensors, or spatial data. Also, the course seeks to establish a network among SIBECOL researchers, especially those at the early stages of their careers. Download the full program here! Application Applicants must fill the application form before the 15 December 2023 at 23:59h. PRESENTATION: To celebrate “Ecology Day” on September 14th, 2024, the Iberian Society of Ecology (SIBECOL) is launching the SIBECOL-Dialogues, a platform aimed at fostering discussions on current ecological topics. The plan is to hold this event in different locations annually, focusing on current ecological discussions and topics. The inaugural dialogue will centre around "Heat Waves and Tipping Points" and is scheduled to take place at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) on September 13th, 2024, at 11 am. The event will be live-streamed with support from UAB and CREAF. The dialogues will last for two hours, with the first hour dedicated to invited experts' presentations and the second hour open for a public forum and discussion. We are excited to announce the participation of experts: Nuria Marbà (marine environment; CSIC-IMEDEA), Yolanda Pueyo (terrestrial environment; CSIC-IPE), and Jordi Catalan (inland waters; CSIC, CREAF), and the moderation of Francisco Lloret (UAB, CREAF) for the 2024 SIBECOL Dialogue. SIBECOL aims to encourage participation in the dialogues by inviting anyone interested in taking part to ask questions related to this year's theme, "Heat Waves and Tipping Points," through the form provided. To participate and based on this first SIBECOL dialogue’s topic, what ecological question would you seek to address? Please fill out this Google Form before the 30th of August 2024.
